SUNDERLAND Football Club’s charity is inviting schools and academies to attend a special showcase event to demonstrate how it can enhance and support pupils' learning through its award-winning programmes.

The Schools Conference will be held by Foundation of Light in the Stadium of Light’s Montgomery Suite, from 8am to 10am, on Tuesday, March 8.

It will give schools the opportunity to find out first-hand how the Foundation brings subjects to life for pupils helping improve attitudes, increasing enthusiasm and motivation within the classroom.

During the event, delegates can meet staff from the charity's four curriculum areas - sport and play, education, health and wellbeing; and world of work – and discover how their unique programmes can enhance each schools' existing curriculum.

There will also be a unique behind-the-scenes look at the Beacon of Light, the sports facility due to completed in 2017.

Teaching staff from Cotsford Junior School, in Horden, near Peterlee, will present a case study of their successful partnership with Foundation of Light, which has received national television coverage due to pupils' increased academic performance in all areas.
