TWO men have been arrested on suspicion of drink driving following an accident involving three cars in east Durham this morning (Friday, March 20).

A Durham Police spokesman said a red BMW and a black Suzuki Swift collided on Times Inn Bank on Stockton Road, near Seaham, at 7.30am. A third vehicle, a Mercedes Sprinter also sustained minor damage.

The occupants of the BMW, two men from Seaham aged 27 and 25, were arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and are in custody at Peterlee police station.

The 46-year-old male driver of the Suzuki was taken by ambulance to Sunderland Royal Hospital as a precaution, but is not thought seriously hurt. Both the BMW and Swift badly damaged and had to be recovered from scene.

Anyone who saw the incident should contact Durham Police on 101 and ask for PC Andy Davison from the roads policing unit.
