A ROBBER wielding a baseball bat and wearing a gas mask has robbed a convenience store of a quantity of cash in east Durham.
A police spokesman said the raider struck at McColls convenience store in Fulwell Road, Peterlee, at 10.30pm last night (Monday, December 15).
The man entered the store and approached the counter, threatening members of staff, demanding they open the till.
Staff were left shaken at a popular McColls convenience store in Fulwell Road, Peterlee on Monday night.
He made off with £400 in cash, leaving members of staff shaken, but unhurt.
DC Chris Bentham of Durham Police said, “This has been a particularly nasty robbery at McColls.
“The man was wearing a gas mask and had a dark-coloured baseball bat.
“I am appealing for help in tracing this individual.
“The jacket worn by this male looks like a Superdry jacket with green logo on the rear shoulder and green trim on the hood.”
