DETAILS have been announced for the joint annual civic festive carol service, which brings together townsfolk from various walks of life in the weeks before Christmas.

St John’s Church, in Blandford Place, has been chosen as the venue for this year’s Seaham Ecumenical Civic Carol Service, on Wednesday, December 10.

Seaham’s Mayor, councillor Bruce Burn, is holding the community service in agreement with the priest at St John’s, Father Peter Twistleton.

Representatives from many of the town’s educational, community and voluntary organisations will be among the congregation, on the night, while, as a strictly ecumenical celebration, figures from other churches and places of worship in Seaham, will also be among the invited guests.

The service is open to all, with members of the public welcome to attend.

Seaham Town Band will be performing at the service, starting at 7pm, with all members of the congregation welcome to the nearby parish room for refreshments afterwards.

• The service comes days after the Christmas lights switch on, in Seaham, which takes place on Friday, December 5.
