East Durham College has announced the Durham Flower Festival will return for a second year, following the success of the inaugural show in August.

Organisers have set a date for next year’s show as Saturday, August 29 and Sunday, August 30.

The event will see the Durham Flower Show return to East Durham College’s Houghall Campus, in Durham, which will once again feature a range of competition categories including many breeds of fauna and flora, fruit and veg, food and art.

There will also be a number of separate competition categories for trade displays, as well as plus a number of trade stalls selling a variety of craft and gardening products.

Durham Flower Show Secretary, Dianne Howe, said she was thrilled to have a date set in the diary for next year’s event.

She said: “The first show in August was a brilliant event and we have had some great feedback from both visitors and exhibitors.

“I am really pleased to have next year’s show date down in the diary already, giving us time to plan another fantastic event for next year.

“We can’t wait to see this event grow and develop further.”

The show in August attracted exhibits from horticultural societies and nurseries, with demonstrations including a gardeners’ question time.
