THE Met Office has issued a severe weather warning of high winds set to hit the North-East tomorrow night.

Forecasters say they expect winds of around 60mph with gusts of up to 75mph – strong enough to bring down power lines, damage trees and perhaps damage buildings – to batter the region overnight.

A yellow weather warning has been put in place for the whole of the North-East and North Yorkshire, starting at 8pm on Tuesday and in force until 10am on Wednesday.
