CHILDREN from a primary school have just got their hands on a new climbing frame.
The new play equipment has been installed at St Godric’s Primary School in Framwellgate Moor.
Headteacher Catherine Craig said: “We really wanted to improve outdoor learning and play environment and we want the children to experience learning more outside as well as inside.
“The grounds were lovely but they were a bit of a blank canvas. It’s great to create as many opportunities to them as possible.
“The children absolutely love it – they are so enthusiastic. Because it’s so creative it can be whatever they want to be and it supports that imaginative play.”
The new equipment was bought thanks to a £10,000 grant from Awards for All and is part of a wider plan to redevelop the outdoor learning environment at the school.
Teacher Alison Holtham added: “We’ve still got lots of things we would like to do.”
The Friends of St Godric’s also raised £5,000 for a new safety surface.
