QUILTERS have raised around £3,500 after exhibiting their work during a three-day show.
The Durham Quilters organised the show at Carrville Methodist Church, where the group of 20 sewers regularly meet.
The quilters formed a group 14 years ago after taking a class together and this was the first show they have put on in seven years.
Organiser Ann Diggory, from West Rainton, said: “It’s a lot of work to get enough fresh pieces for a show but we had quite a lot of new work and there have been mutterings about it for about 18 months.
“I’m very pleased with how it’s gone. It was very successful. We had three well-supported days and a lot of good compliments about it all.
“We think we have raised about £3,500 and we are absolutely delighted with the response.”
The money will be divided between Macmillan Nurses, the Great North Air Ambulance Service, Carrville Methodist Church and the Durham Quilters.
Following the success of the show, the group, which is led by Janet Heal, hopes to put on another in four years time.
