AN ORGAN recital series promoting an eclectic range of music from the classical repertoire continues with concert at a former Catholic seminary.
Matthew Atherton, who is director of music at Aysgarth School, near Bedale, North Yorkshire, will perform in St Cuthbert’s Chapel, at Ushaw College, near Durham, at 2.30pm on Saturday. A retiring collection will be taken.
Mr Atherton, who studied organ with Ian Little at Ampleforth College and James Lancelot and Keith Wright at Durham, holds an MA in Musicology from Durham University and is a Fellow of Trinity College of Music.
The college’s cafe, shop and chapels will be open from 1pm to 5pm. The concert forms part of a varied programme of cultural events at the venue.
