A CHARITY shop in Durham is set to benefit from a housing association merger which has led to a donation of all its old workwear.
Four Housing has become part of the Bernicia Group and has donated all of its old branded uniforms to the British Red Cross branch in Durham.
It handed over 340 garments, including jackets, fleeces and t-shirts, which will be altered to remove logos before being sold.
It is hoped to raise around £500, which will go to Red Cross initiatives including its Home from Hospital scheme and wheelchair hire service, which operates from Belmont, near Durham.
Amanda Oliver, manager of the British Red Cross’s Durham shop said: “We’re really grateful to Four Housing for the donation; the volume and quality of the stock is absolutely fantastic and amounts to around £500 of much needed funds which will support the vital work underway across the charity.
“Our dedicated volunteers are busy upcycling the items ready to go on sale and as ever we’re appreciative of their hard work and commitment.”
