TWO people were arrested and several people were injured after fighting broke out among a large crowd at a late-night bonfire.
Police say that a disturbance took place on the playing fields at Fir Terrace in Esh Winning, near Durham last night (July 19).
Officers were called at around 10.20pm after reports that a bonfire had been lit and a large number of people had begun to gather.
A spokesman for Durham Police said: “Unfortunately a fight broke out and a number of people got involved and were injured.
“Two males were arrested at the scene and are currently in custody, Enquiries are ongoing and further arrests are to be made”.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Durham Police on 101 and ask for Detective Sergeant Mark Garfoot.
