BOLLYWOOD, brass and a dancing bear entertained the community at a policing event with a difference.

The Durham City Neighbourhood Policing Team put on the event after winning a brass band in a competition as part of the county’s international Brass festival.

Rajasthan Heritage Brass Band turned up to their Bear on Tour road show, which is aimed at getting more people involved in police and community together (Pact) meetings.

The Durham Safe City Bear danced with children from St Oswald’s Primary School at the park in Church Street, while the band played their brass music with a Bollywood twist.

PCSO Leesa Bennison said: “The band was really good and it was something totally different that hasn’t happened in that area before.

“We always carry out our street Pact but we don’t always get a big turnout so this was a way to try and get into the community. Usually we’re in the market place and it was a way of visiting residents in other areas so they know we don’t forget about them.”

The event was also attended by members of the congregation from St Oswald’s, parents of pupils at the school, the Neighbourhood Watch team and residents living nearby.
