ONE hundred women enjoyed a girls’ day out to raise money for a hospice.

They were all guests at St Cuthbert’s Hospice’s Ladies’ Spring Lunch at Beamish Hall Country House Hotel in County Durham on Friday (April 15).

There was a three-course lunch and entertainment, including from singer Jamie Tinkler, and the event raised more than £5,000 for the Durham City hospice.

The guest speaker was Sue Snowdon, the Lord Lieutenant of County Durham, who paid tribute to volunteers, calling them the “backbone of Britain”.

Organiser Becky Fishwick said: “The Ladies’ Lunch is one of our most popular events and the perfect opportunity to get the girls together for good food, shopping, music and more.

“This year was no exception. It was wonderful to see everyone having a good time while raising funds for the hospice.”
