NINETEEN entrepreneurs will graduate from a year-long course later this week (Friday, October 2).

A graduation ceremony for the 2014-15 class of the North East Lloyds Bank Social Entrepreneurs Programme will be held at the Sjovoll Centre, Pity Me, Durham on Friday.

Each was given a £4,000 grant to develop their social enterprise and coaching was offered throughout the year.

The group includes Nikki Dravers, from Durham, who has worked to rescue food that would otherwise be wasted; Andrew Barron, of Durham, who runs fitness and nutrition sessions; and Christopher Mann, of Ushaw Moor, who refurbishes bicycles.

Sue Osborne, director for the Social for Social Entrepreneurs, said: “Year on year we are thrilled to see our students and their communities continue to benefit from the support of the Lloyds Bank Social Entrepreneurs programme.

“We have an outstanding group of social entrepreneurs graduating from the 2014-15 cohort and we look forward to watching their continued success.”

Seventeen students have already signed up for next year’s programme.
