A PLANNING application has been lodged to convert a disused Victorian brewery building into flats.
Professor Rowena Plant has applied for permission to convert the former Blackhill Brewery Building in Blackhill, Consett into seven apartments.
The building, which dates back to around 1890, was originally constructed as an independent brewery next to the Royal Park Hotel, in Park Road and eventually became part of the Vaux Breweries Group but has been disused for some years.
The applicant wants to convert the building into one and two-bedroom apartments, along with a 12-space car park and bin-storage area to the back of the property.
Durham County Council is expected to make a decision on the application over the summer.
