ALL heads turned as a teenager arrived at his school prom in rip-roaring style.

Not for Morgan Davies the now conventional stretch limo or horse-drawn carriage.

Instead, he made his way to the Durham Johnston end-of-term bash escorted by an entourage from Lanchester Centurions Motorcycle Club.

Following an approach by his father, Chris, the Centurions responded with a powerful Suzuki motorcycle, ridden by owner Roy Bennington, plus attached sidecar, in which the15-year-old was ferried from his home in Langley Moor, near Durham, to the prom.

Mr Davies said club chairman David Jackson and other members came up trumps to make his son’s day.

“They offered a cool-looking side car and, to make it better, they said they may be in a position to provide an escort.”

As a result Morgan, in the Suzuki-drawn sidecar, was accompanied by five outriders as they turned into the car park at the prom venue, the Ramside Hall Hotel, at Carrville, near Durham.

Mr Davies said it earned the response his son sought.

“As they pulled up I heard people around me saying: ‘Oh, my God’, ‘Look at these bikes’, and, ‘Wow’.

“When he got out of the sidecar he said his hands were shaking with adrenaline, and he just smiled and giggled all the way.”

Mr Davies thanked the Centurions for their efforts and gave them a donation which will go to the club’s chosen charities, The Great North Air Ambulance Service, and Heal and Toe, which supports children with cerebral palsy and other disabilities.
