THE WORLD-RENOWNED lutenist and guitarist Robin Thodey will stage a performance at Durham Cathedral to raise bursary funds for choristers attending the city’s Chorister School.
Durham-based Ms Thodey, who has performed throughout the world, including at the New York's Carnegie Hall , will be joined by tenor Deryck Webb for the performance in the cathedral’s Chapel of the Holy Cross, at 7.30pm on Friday, June 26.
The duo will perform a repertoire that comprises French Airs de Cour by the composer Crecquillon, whose works are rarely performed, followed by songs by John Dowland.
Ms Thodey said: "The Chapel of the Holy Cross is a beautiful Norman building with a ravishing acoustic. It is, actually, the private Chapel of the Dean and is not usually used for musical performances."
Only seats 50 are available for the show.
Tickets are £12.50 and can be purchased from the Durham Cathedral Choir Association, The Cathedral Office, Durham DH1 3EH (SAE), or reserved by contacting 0191 384 9957.
