AN inquest review has taken place into the death of a Durham University student whose body was found in the River Wear in January.
Euan Coulthard was found by a professional diver on Friday, January 23, yards from where he was last seen on Framwellgate Bridge in Durham City on Wednesday, January 14.
An inquest into the 19-year-old’s death was opened later that month and, at a review hearing at Crook Civic Centre in Crook today (Monday, March 23), County Durham coroner Andrew Tweddle was given an update into the investigation.
Coroner’s officer Sharon Carr said a toxicology report had arrived on Wednesday, March 18, and a post-mortem report was expected to follow in two weeks.
Mr Tweddle scheduled a further review for Monday, April 27.
Euan’s disappearance, following a night out with friends, prompted a major search involving dozens of police officers, firefighters, mountain rescue volunteers and his fellow students.
His body was found in the River Wear by Trevor Bankhead, a commercial shellfish diver who travelled more than 170 miles from the Western Isles to join the search and help bring closure for Euan’s family.
