CHILDREN from four schools will witness a piece of footballing history this weekend when they watch England Ladies play their first international at Wembley.
On Sunday (Nov 23), England Ladies play Germany Ladies at Wembley Stadium in front of 55,000 fans.
Local education recruitment company, Vision for Education has been working with Durham Women’s FC to secure 40 tickets for pupils from County Durham schools to attend the match.
Groups from Consett Academy, St Bede’s Catholic School in Lanchester and Belmont School and Framwellgate School Durham will be heading to London for the game.
Paul Hillas, from Vision for Education, and Scottish international player Zoe Ness, who plays for Durham, visited the schools to meet the excited pupils.
Mr Hillas said: “The girls were very excited and for most of them this was their first experience at Wembley. I’m looking forward to hearing all about the day.
“Women’s football is huge in the North East and hopefully the work we are doing with Durham WFC will see some home grown England stars of the future.”
