A HUSBAND and wife team are hoping to strike gold with a new jewellery stall.

Martyn and Jacqueline Lamb launched Marla Jones Jewellery in Durham’s Market Hall after receiving support from the North East Business and Innovation Centre, funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

Mrs Lamb, from Grindon, Sunderland, decided to start her own business after being made redundant from another jeweller’s.

The firm is named after her late grandmother, who was known for her love of jewellery.

Mrs Lamb said: “It’s still early days but we’ve been really pleased with the amount of custom we’ve had so far.

“We have a number of returning customers of all ages and we’ve just taken a large delivery of stock ready for the New Year.”
