DETECTIVES are trying to find a child rapist who went on the run before his trial started.

Wayne Domeney, 51, who is believed to be in the Consett area County Durham, was due at Birmingham Crown Court last month.

He failed to appear and the hearing went ahead without him.

He was convicted of four counts of rape on a teenage girl aged 13-15, three counts of assaulting a female under 13 by penetration, three counts of sexual activity with a child, two counts of inciting a female to engage in sexual activity and one count of intimidating a witness.

The offences took place between 2010 and 2014.

Domeney was found guilty following the five day trial on February 2.

A warrant without bail was issued by Judge Kristina Montgomery.

He is formerly of the Bulkington area of Bedworth and may also have links to Aldershot in Hampshire.

A spokesman for Warwickshire Police said: “Anybody who may have seen Domeney or anybody with information as to his whereabouts is urged to call police on 101.”
