SEASONAL celebrations, including the Christmas tree light switch-on, are taking place in Consett town centre.
The Derwent Valley Partnership will be hosting Christmas in Consett on Saturday, December 2, between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on Middle Street.
A range of musical entertainment will be taking place throughout the evening, leading up to the Christmas tree lights switch on at 6.30pm.
There will be carols, local band North Road and cartoon characters.
A partnership spokesman said: “Our popular Christmas jumper competition will be back for its third year so remember to wear your favourite festive jumper to the event to be in with a chance of winning a family ticket to the Cinderella Christmas pantomime at the Empire Theatre. The winner will also be switching on the Christmas tree lights.”
