A CHURCH is holding an open day to showcase its facilities.
St Cuthbert’s Church at Shotley Bridge, near Consett, is opening its doors on Saturday, March 4, from 11am to 3pm.
The church hall will host a number of displays organised by some of the many community groups who use the facilities there.
The Vicar of Benfieldside, the Reverend Martin Jackson, said: “It’s a chance to show ourselves off to the wider community with displays, meet people and have refreshments in the church and the hall.
“We look forward to welcoming a Bishop, so tell people about it and bring people along.”
The Bishop will be Bishop Graham Kings, formerly Bishop of Sherborne and now Mission Theologian for the Anglican Communion, who is based at Lambeth Palace and visits Durham regularly to meet the Mission Team at Cranmer Hall.
Rosie Junemann, who helps at services as a reader, said: “It’s showing all aspects of church life and how we put our faith into action in the community.”
