AN annual country show has been held over the weekend.

The 63rd Lanchester Agricultural Society Show was staged at Newhouses Farm, on the A691 near Lanchester in County Durham, today. (Sunday, July 5)

One of the main attractions was the horse classes, which includes jumping as well as showing, along with a vintage tractor show, crafts, a bouncy castle and beer tent.

Show secretary Charlotte Miller said: “It has been bigger and better than ever and there has been more people through the gate than ever before.

"It is becoming even more of an agricultural show and we have had a great response.”

There was also fly fishing, ferrets, a farmers’ market, an industrial tent, the dog agility course, the Braes of Derwent Hunt and the Brownies.

Miss Miller said: “The atmosphere has been fantastic. Everyone has been happy. The weather has been fantastic and it has been a lovely day.”
