TWO elderly women have been freed after the car they were travelling in hit a wall and overturned.
Police closed the junction of Mount Park Drive and Newbiggin Lane in Lanchester after the incident at 3.15pm today (Monday, June 29).
Two crews from Consett Fire Station attended and helped the women get out of the Nissan Note, which ended up on its side.
The women, who were local to the area, were treated by paramedics from North-East Ambulance Service and went home rather than to hospital.
The road has since been reopened.
