AN elderly man was airlifted to hospital after collapsing in an area popular with walkers.
The Great North Air Ambulance was called to the Derwent Walk at Medomsley, Consett, County Durham, 8.40am this morning. (Monday, October 13)
The 78-year-old was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle after suffering serious heart problems.
His condition on arrival seven minutes later was described by air ambulance staff as ‘stable’.
