POLICE have appealed for witnesses to an assault in which a man and woman were left with serious injuries.
A Durham Police spokesman said the incident happened on Front Street, Chester-le-Street, at about 3.30am on Sunday March 25.
It was reported that during the course of the incident a man was assaulted suffering “significant facial injuries”, while the woman had serious head injuries. It is believed that the woman was assaulted with a glass.
Inquiries are ongoing and police are appealing to members of the public for further witnesses who were present and may be able to help with the investigation. It is believed there were a large number of people present who may have witnessed the incident.
