A PSYCHOLOGY student's entire career is in question before it has even begun, after he was found guilty of driving under the influence of cocaine.
Daniel Carney, of Rookhope, Washington, was pulled over by police in Chester-le-Street in August last year after they spotted him driving 'at speed'.
A roadside drugs test showed he was four times over the limit for cocaine, despite having taken it 24 hours previously, and he pleaded guilty to the offence at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court yesterday.
The 19-year-old was said to be in the first year of a criminology and psychology degree at a university in Leeds, and had been celebrating his A-level results when he took the drugs, not realising they would still be in his system the day after.
The court heard that any previous convictions could affect his future career in psychology as they are taken into consideration.
He was banned from driving for a year, fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs plus a £30 victim surcharge.
