POLICE officers have handed cheques to two charities following a Christmas event held at their police station.
Members of the Pelton Neighbourhood Police Team delivered donations to to Heel & Toe Children’s Charity and Teesdale and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue Team.
The money raised was as a result of the Santa’s Grotto Christmas event held at Pelton Section Office in December.
Sergeant Mick Richardson said: “As a team we would like to say a huge thank you to all of the local businesses who contributed to this event and helped to raise significant amounts of money for these worthy causes.
“We would also like to thank the community who turned up in their droves to the event and made it an enjoyable evening for everyone involved,
“These are two well deserving charities and we would like to thank the local community for supporting the event. It was great to meet everybody and spread some Christmas cheer while raising money for a good cause”.
