DRIVERS are being warned of potential disruption this weekend when a road is closed for resurfacing.
Work will take place on the C184 Durham Road in Chester-le-Street on Saturday and Sunday with the road closed between the junction with the A167 Hermitage roundabout and Orchard Gardens.
Motorists are advised to take an alternative route via Ropery Lane roundabout, Ropery Lane and onto Durham Road.
Vehicular access will be maintained for residents.
Brian Buckley, the council’s strategic highways manager, said: “This work is part of our ongoing programme to ensure our county’s roads are in the best possible shape.
“We appreciate there is never a good time to do roadworks but we have planned it for a weekend when there should be less traffic on the road, to minimise disruption for people”.
He added: “We’d like to thank everyone in advance for their patience should they experience any delays.”
