RESIDENTS are being asked to identify priorities for an eight-week clean-up campaign.

The Community Action Team, run by Durham County Council, plans to tackle housing and environmental problems in Chester-le-Street, concentrating on the area around the train station and Front Street.

A drop-in session will take place in Chester-le-Street Library on Station Road between 3pm and 5pm today where residents can raise concerns to be addressed.

As part of the programme, council staff will work with other agencies including County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service and Durham Constabulary.

Joanne Waller, from Durham County Council, said: “Chester-le-Street is the team’s 25th project and we are urging people to come forward and let us know what our priorities should be”.

She added: “Residents’ views are at the heart of all of our work and we know addressing some of these problems will have a real impact on the lives of people in the community.”
