MOTORISTS are warned to expect disruption on a busy section of the A167 dual carriageway in coming days.
Northern Gas Networks (NGN) is carrying out gas main repairs to the stretch of the former Great North Road, between Chester-le-Street and Durham, from 9am on Tuesday, until Friday.
The inside lane of the northbound carriageway and the outside lane of the southbound carriageway will be closed, between Plawsworth and Pity Me roundabouts.
NGN site manager Andy Coates said public safety is its priority and therefore the closures were deemed necessary to ensure the work proceeds as quickly as possible.
He apologised for inconvenience to road users.
