Mrs Wallace, who is married to Geoffrey and lives at Hilda Park, said: “I used to do a lot of commissions, but I have got to a point where I do not want to be exact about things.

“I just want to paint what I want to paint. It is just by word of mouth that I sell.

Mrs Wallace is a member of the U3A flower painting class, which meets at St Mary’s Church in Chester-le-Street.

She is a mother-of-two with one grandchild and two great grandsons.

She added: “I was always good at art at school. I have been painting as a hobby since I was 40. That is when I started again.

“I think this will be my last show, but I cannot say that for sure in case I change my mind.”
