ARTISTIC pupils have come up with a unique way of brightening up the walls of an office.

Children from Chester-le-Street CE Primary School, have designed three pieces of artwork on a housing theme, taking photographs of homes in their town then creating mosaics based on the pictures.

Their artworks will now take pride of place on the walls of The Cestria Hub and Durham County Council’s Customer Access Point – a shared office space in Front Street which is used for meetings, information and customer advice.

The three pieces have been designed in the shape of a house, the Cestria logo and the Durham County Council logo and are the result of eight months research and planning.

School art coordinator Lisa Corbett said: “We were really pleased to be asked to take part in this project, the children have worked really hard and it was wonderful for them to visit The Hub and see their finished work framed and going on the walls.

“This is the first time we have worked with Cestria and the Council but it has been a fantastic experience and we hope there will be lots of other opportunities to work together again in future.”

The artwork was created by children in Years Three to Six, many of who had a particular interest in art or photography.

Cestria Customer Relationship Manager Lisa Coverdale said: “We were very impressed by the artwork the pupils created – it’s very original and will look fantastic in the Hub – we are sure all our customers will enjoy viewing them when they visit us”.
