Three bailed after A1 arrests
THREE men have been bailed following an alleged firearms incident.
The men, aged 41, 43 and 54, were arrested on suspicion of a firearms-related offence after police stopped a car on the A1 southbound near Chester-le-Street at about 5pm yesterday (Wednesday).
That followed reports of a disturbance in the Wardley area of Gateshead.
The A1 southbound was closed for some time, causing disruption for motorists.
All of the men have now been bailed pending further enquiries.
Any witnesses to the disturbance are asked to call Northumbria Police on 101 extension 69191, quoting log number 818 12/08/15, or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111.
