SUNDERLAND'S audience will have the chance to decide what films to watch next in the continuing series of outdoor movies being screened in its parks.

Following the success of the outdoor screening of Grease at Herrington Country Park during last year's Sunderland Festival, and Top Gun which featured at the first Drive-in Movie held there earlier this month, people in Sunderland will soon be asked what they'd like to watch next.

Four more dates and venues have now been announced, and it will soon be up to the audiences in Sunderland to decide what they'd like to see screened.

Sunderland City Council's events team are putting together a list of family favourites and box-office hits which will be available for a public vote via the council website and the local media shortly. The first dates in this year's programme are open air movies at Mowbray Park on June 9 and at Herrington Country Park on June 17 and 19, as well as a drive-in movie at Herrington Country Park on October 27..

The Leader of Sunderland City Council, Councillor Paul Watson said: "People in Sunderland have really taken to the idea of outdoor movies, and we are lucky to have two such magnificent venues in which to screen them.

"More than 5000 people watched the first outdoor movie screened at Herrington Country Park, while the Drive-In there attracted more than 300 cars."
