CHRISTIANS and rugby stars will take to the streets of a North-East city this week, to run children’s clubs and tea parties, a barbecue and community clean ups.

Members of Newcastle Christian Life Centre (NCLC) will be volunteering in the Cowgate area of Newcastle, where the church has sent RAK (random acts of kindness) teams previously.

Players from Gateshead Thunder rugby team will also be involved.

Pastor Jon Cook said: "We are a passionate church and we love our city and the amazing people who live here.

"Serving isn’t a new thing for us - we don’t have our own building so scores of people turn up every week to set everything up.

"Our ongoing work in Cowgate is our chance to bless this great community and show the people there how valued they really are."

The involvement of Gateshead Thunder has been organised through Pastor Cook being club chaplain.

He said: "The Thunder coming in will be an amazing addition to what promises to be a fantastic week."
