A HEADMASTER is to spend the school holidays by running the length of Hadrian’s Wall for charity.

Martin George, head teacher of Durham School, is to tackle the 83-mile route next week to raise funds for Help For Heroes.

Mr George has already raised more than £4,000 in sponsorship and money is still coming in, along with volunteers offering to run alongside him for part of the way.

The run starts at 10am on Wednesday, April 14 from Bowness-on-Solway and is scheduled to finish at 3pm on Friday, April 16 at Tynemouth Long Sands Café.

Mr George said: "I am delighted to say that a number of Durham School parents and staff have said they might join me for a section of the run across the Wall.

"I will endeavour to be on time at each of the short stops but won’t be able to wait, so if you do intend to join in it would be best to arrive early at each stop."
