AN award-winning student drama company return next month with its main show of the year, a romantic musical set against the unlikely backdrop of war-torn London.
The Woodplayers are to stage a four-night run of Blitz! - The Musical at Collingwood College, starting on Wednesday, March 10 and continuing until Saturday, March 13.
Set in London during the Blitz, the story draws on Lionel Bart's childhood memories of the Jewish East End during the Second World War and centres on the romance between a young Jewish woman and a Cockney man.
The society is one of Durham's fastest growing theatre groups, with participation in shows increasing significantly each year and the number of shows staged each year growing from two to five in just four years.
Tickets for Blitz! are from £4.50 to £6 and the shows start at 7.30pm each night.
