A CENTRE for people with disabilities was transformed into an English country garden for a summer festival.

The party at the Durham Care and Support Pathways’ centre in Pity Me was for young people and adults with disabilities and their carers.

They enjoyed a parade with fire engine, police van and James Bond motorbike, as well as visits from Alice in Wonderland, a circus strong man and a stilt walker.

There was entertainment from The Back Room Band and Maximum Pastry ceilidh band and from a Mrs Brown impersonator.

Paul Graydon, countywide manager of Durham County Council’s Care and Support Pathways, said: “Our summer festival is always one of our service users’ favourite events and this year was no exception.

“Everyone at the festival had an amazing day and we’re already working on how we will top this year’s event next summer. We are extremely grateful to everyone who lent their support to the occasion, donating their time and services.”
