A HOUSING developer is giving away “summer survival kits” to encourage children to go wildlife spotting.

The kits include reusable water bottles, tennis balls, packs of colouring pencils and RSPB wildlife spotting sheets, which provides a guide to help children keep watch of the wildlife which is commonly seen in the local area.

David Wilson Homes, which hasa partnership with the RSPB, is giving out the free kits at its developments at The Drive, in Durham and Elba Park, in Houghton-le-Spring.

Sales manager Becky Mortimer said: “As the schools break up for summer we’re excited to welcome the community to pick up their very own summer survival kits here at Elba Park and The Drive.

“We always look to make strong connections with the communities we build in and we hope these summer kits get people outdoors, having fun and staying healthy and hydrated.”

The kits are available at the sales offices of both sites until Friday, August 17.

The housebuilder has recently renewed its partnership with the RSPB for another three years, which is aimed at boosting the wildlife in green spaces within its developments.
