A CHARITY is urging dog owners to bring their pets for a sponsored walk.

The North East Autism Society (NEAS) will hold Wag This Way at Hetton Lyons Country Park, Hetton-le-Hole, near Sunderland, on Sunday, May 11.

The charity hopes up to 300 dogs and their owners to complete will do the one to two-mile walk to raise funds for families living with autism.

“We have a really exciting day planned,” said Colin Powell, the society’s Head of Fundraising.

“We have a number of trade stands along with a range of interesting doggie-related products and services that will be showcased alongside some fun competitions and activities for all the family.”

Taking part costs £5 and owners are asked to raise as much as possible through sponsorship. Free micro-chipping will be available for every dog who has taken part in the walk.

Each dog that completes the work will receive a bag of treats and a certificate.
