A SCHOOLBOY has been named the winner of an annual award scheme.
Jack Naylor, from Murton, is to be presented with the annual Community Minded Child award, sponsored by Murton Parish Council and Dalton Park shopping centre.
The 11-year-old has been chosen for the award for his sporting achievements and the way in which he has applied himself at school.
He will be presented with the honour from Louise Thompson, Dalton Park’s marketing manager, at a ceremony in the Glebe Centre, in Murton on Thursday, October 17.
The award was established to acknowledge the contribution made by young people under 16 in the village.
Nominees have to demonstrate an active involvement in the community – whether helping the elderly, young children, making a positive contribution to the environment – or excelling in sports or music.
