BLACKHILL Methodist Church’s Tuesday Group will celebrate its 50th anniversary next month. From 2pm on Saturday, November 2, there will be entertainment from soloist Joyce Shaw, followed by afternoon tea.

A thanksgiving service will be held the following day at 10.30am, led by Susan Johnson and featuring soloist Jordan Appleton. Both events will be held at the church, on Wesley Street, Blackhill, Consett.

On Tuesday, November 5, a lunch will be held at the South Causey Inn, starting at noon for 12.30pm. Members and friends past and present are welcome to get involved. For more information, contact Margaret Saville.

ANNUAL LECTURE: Sonali Craddock, manager of Durham’s Business Improvement District, will give a talk on its nature and aims in Elvet Riverside 1, room 141, on Saturday, November 2, at 2.15pm. OCTOBER TUESDAYS: The Flass pub, on Durham Road, Ushaw Moor, near Durham, is hosting a series of October Tuesdays starting on October 15. For three consecutive Tuesdays from 3.30pm to 9pm, there will be a music club and fair featuring records, tapes, videos, books and music memorabilia.
