AN award-winning children’s writer has let some of her young fans into the tips of her trade.
Scottish author Debi Gilori has written and illustrated several books for young readers including the Mr Bear series of stories , The Trouble With Dragons and Stormy Weather.
She was in Durham today (Wednesday, October 2) to hold a drawing workshop for local primary pupils.
The event was at Durham Johnston Comprehensive School, which is staging a festival of culture.
Children from Durham Johnston’s feeder primary schools took part and the author held a workshop with Durham Johnson art students on children’s picture book-making that included a question and answer session. The festival began in September and continues throughout October.
Last month writer, actor and comedian Charlie Higson - of TV’s The Fast Show fame - visited the school.
The line-up of event also includes dramatic performances and film screenings.
