COUNCILLORS have today (Tuesday, October 1) granted a licence for a new Thai restaurant.
Suchittra Nadon, of Nadon 55 Limited, wants to open Nadon Thai Restaurant at 69-70 Crossgate, Durham.
Ms Nadon initially made an application to sell alcohol until midnight seven days a week.
However, following talks with Durham Police, she cut back her request to have last orders at 10.30pm and closing time at 11.30pm.
The licence was granted for no more than 12 months.
The application was granted by a County Council licensing committee meeting, in the council chamber at Spennymoor.
The premises was previously raunchy sports bar Boxers, which became the scene of mass fighting, drug taking, sexual misbehaviour and underage drinking.
