A CARE home has undergone a major refurbishment.

St Margaret’s Care Home, on Crossgate, Durham City, has been given new floors, carpets and furniture in all communal areas, plus new wet rooms.

Manager Carol Jones said: “It’s great to see the home looking wonderful.

“The residents particularly like the new wet rooms, which are easy to use, and all the new furniture.

“The common areas also look fabulous. We are all really pleased.”

The refurbishment is part of a wider initiative by home owner HC-One, the country’s third largest provider of residential care for older people.

Chairman Chai Patel said: “We have received excellent feedback about the refurbishment from residents, which is key. This has been done with them in mind.

“HC-One’s aim is to provide the kindest care in the country and giving residents a home they can be proud of and which meets their needs is fundamental to achieving this goal.”
