YOUNGSTERS are mapping out a green future for their school, as part of National Enterprise Week.
About 210 year ten pupils from Framwellgate School, in Durham, are creating 3D models of how their school might look in years to come, boasting environmental features such as wind turbines and solar panels.
They have also suggested planting more trees, recycling water and using renewable energy sources.
Project leaders say if the children's ideas are good enough, they may be put into practice.
The 14 and 15-year-olds worked with the support of enterprise ambassadors from Durham Education Business Service, Northumbrian Water, the Identity and Passport Service and HM Court Service.
The school's business enterprise manager, Dorothy Creek, said: "Our focus for National Enterprise Week is our carbon footprint and how we can reduce it.
"It's very valuable that students get this enterprise experience.
We take environmental issues very seriously.
"We're trying to encourage young people to be more aware of the environment around them.
"The students had a really enjoyable time. It's amazing the awareness they have."
The students' activities will continue tomorrow.
