BUDDING bowmen are being invited to raise money for charity during a 24-hour archery marathon.
Members of Durham City Archers will be shooting arrows through the night in a sponsored event for Sports Relief.
The marathon will start at 7pm on Friday, March 19 in Framwellgate School, Durham, and continue until the following evening.
On Saturday, March 20, members of the public will be able to try the sport from 3pm to 5pm, in exchange for a 50p donation to the cause for every three arrows they fire.
Anyone aged from eight and over can try the sport, under supervision of experienced archers and coaches.
All equipment will be provided by the club but closed-toed shoes, such as trainers, and comfortable, close-fitting clothing should be worn.
A spokesperson for the club said: "This is a ground-breaking event which, as far as we're aware, has never been attempted before anywhere in the world, and would stretch even elite archers to their limits.
"It will be a real test of endurance, skill and concentration for those taking part."
