400 fans sign up for season tickets at Darlington open day

The Northern Echo: Fans at Saturday's open day Fans at Saturday's open day

SEASON ticket sales for Darlington FC got off to a flying start during an open day at the club's new temporary home in Bishop Auckland on Saturday.

More than 400 fans signed up for the season and £22,000 was generated through ticket sales, merchandise and new community interest company memberships.

Chairman Denis Pinnegar said: "It was a very successful day. About 700 fans came and they were unanimous in their praise of Bishop’s ground. We only budgeted for 500 season tickets so we’re delighted it looks like we’re going to exceed that.

"It could bring back a bit of the atmosphere we had at Feethams."

Fan Harry Bartle, who has followed Darlington since 1947, said: "I’ve seen many changes over the years and it's been a sorry few weeks but we’re impressed with the facilities and if the results on the pitch match the stadium we’ll be fine."

A sell out 2,000 capacity crowd is expected for the opening fixture of next season, which sees Darlington take on their new hosts Bishop Auckland.

Actually that impresses me... 400 for the northern league. I wouldnt have betted on a club like Derby County exceeding that if they played in their geographical regions equivilent of the Northern League. So thats an excellent start.

Hi Bishop1

I think the comment from "swissball" was a joke at the expense of Darlington and not directed at Bishop at all.

Not been to the ground myself, but all reports are very positive. Thanks to your club for all your assistance this season. First game of the season should be excellent.
